Director

Prior to joining the VA as Director of Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics Mr. Dionne spent over thirty years in the private sector as Chief Executive Officer of a number of health care organizations across the country.

Mr. Dionne holds a Master of Science Degree from Rensselaer at Hartford, Hartford, CT, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. He is also a Vietnam Combat Veteran who served two tours, and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1971.

As one of VA’s only free standing rehabilitation center, our 450-bed facility serves as a regional and national resource for underserved special populations, rural healthcare clinics include: Klamath Falls and Grants Pass Clinics which provides primary and mental health care

Acting Associate Director

Mr. Ryan Baker was appointed Acting Associate Medical Center Director, VA Roseburg Healthcare System September 28, 2016 and oversees the following services: Facilities Management Service, Health Administration Service, Fiscal, Logistics, Food and Nutrition, and Voluntary Services and Police Services.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Baker served as the VA Roseburg Healthcare System Chief Fiscal Officer, from September 2014 to September 2016, where he managed Fiscal along with Health Administration Services, which included management of all areas of patient administration.
Preceding coming to the VA Roseburg, Mr. Baker was the Chief, Financial Plans & Process Improvement Branch of the Air Force Global Strike Command, where he implemented policies and procedures for accomplishment of the commands financial programs. Mr. Baker was also the Chief, Budget Integration Branch of the Air Force Global Strike Command. Mr. Baker’s previous assignments also included Chief of Stability Support Division, where he served as the senior resource advisor at HQ US Southern Command in Miami, Florida; Budget Analyst for the Department of the Air Force in Arlington, Virginia; and Budget Analyst for Air Force Research Lab Space Vehicles Directorate. Mr. Baker is a Veteran of military service in the United States Air Force, and a graduate of Webster University, with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He also has a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Administration from Hawaii Pacific University.

Chief of Staff

Dr. Dhanani joined VA SORCC as the Chief of Staff in August, 2015. Dr. Dhanani is a Board-certified Internist with sub-specialty training in Geriatric and Pulmonary Medicine. He was the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics and Extended Care at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and the Clinical Professor of Medicine/Geriatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles until August, 2015.

Associate Chief Nurse Executive

Dr. Susan Thurston was named Interim ADPCS/Nurse Executive March 2017. She joined VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (VA SORCC) in 2012, and Portland VA Health Care System in 2001. Dr. Thurston received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2012 from Rush University, Chicago Illinois. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, with a 30 year nursing career which includes: medical, surgical, emergency, critical care, critical care educator, infection prevention, simulation and Associate Chief Nurse roles.

Dr. Thurston served as a Nursing delegate for People to People International in the countries of China, Japan and Hong Kong between the years of 1989 through 2007.
