Information Technology Operations Service (ITOS)

Service Mission/Vision

ITOS contributes indirectly to the Organization and Services’ goals through the implementation of mandated and innovative information and system technologies.

Scope of Service

  • Maintain and implement innovative computerized patient record programs in an effort to improve the quality of care provided to our customers.
  • Ensure the broadest possible population of consumers and practitioners are touched in measurable and desirable ways.
  • ITOS provides professional and technical support to the Organization’s customers such as employees and students.
  • ITOS relates closely with other Services and functional areas in support of the Organization’s on-going strategic direction. The ITOS initiatives are based on information such as Facility Goals, Memos from Service Chiefs, and ITOS Staff working directly with OI&T, Region, VISN and National IT Staff in support of the users. This information is used to create ITOS initiatives, which provide the widest reach, making a system work more efficiently, and to get the best value by combining purchases.
  • VHA-wide policies, procedures, requirements and other information of general applicability to VHA employees, including Manual M-11, Chapters 1 through 17.
  • There are no Balanced Scorecard Indicators that relate directly to ITOS.  However, ITOS has internal goals to pursue:

    • Ensuring that VISTA, the Intranet/Internet and telephone systems are operational
    • Keeping up-to-date with Patches, including VistA, PC and servers
    • Keep up-to-date with New Package Versions
    • Customer/User satisfaction survey
