Mission/Vision

The Psychology Service plays an active part in the VA SORCC’s long-range goals by participating in strategic planning sessions, and conducting surveys and analyses as requested by Performance Improvement Teams and top management. Psychologists routinely complete focused reviews, sit on administrative investigation boards and participate as leaders, members, and facilitators of PI Teams.

The Psychology Service also supports the SORCC by providing treatment mandated in the Uniform Mental Health Services Handbook to residents and outpatients that contribute to positive Veteran Rehabilitation and Recovery goals.

Scope of Service

Psychology provides a range of direct Veteran care services including:

  • Psychological evaluation and consultation, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery services, psycho-education, behavioral rehearsal, and evidence based psychotherapies for SMI, depression, and PTSD.
  • Involvement in the Ambulatory Care clinics through training and support to medical staff in health coaching and patient communications.
  • Direct patient care on health promotion/disease prevention topics.
  • Individual and group psychotherapy, counseling and psychological assessment services.
